Ask JAS: Dr. Miracles Products
Question: Do you all use Dr. Miracle's products? Have you ever tried them? Would you recommend them?
Jameka's Answer: Ehhh, I'll pass on Dr. Miracle's. Not because of their products, because I honestly know 0.2 things about Dr. Miracles. My main thing that stops me from purchasing their products is the product advertisement. Their commercials always feature a Black woman with big hair, similar looking to natural hair, screaming about how their hair looks terrible and they need a miracle. Then Dr. Miracle's product jumps out and they have a perm and their hair is nice and sleek. YAY that the products work on their hair (sarcasm), but I don't like the message that the product sends. It's almost like, "tame that (natural) hair with these products" and that just fuels the "oh nooo, my hair needs a perm, it's a big nappy mess, blah blah blah" that is prevalent in our community, or at least in my community of friends lol. They equate "miracle" with relaxer...
That's probably really dramatic, but product advertisement is something that I've always looked heavily at and it says a lot about the beliefs of the company, so I for one, can't support Dr. Miracles...
PS the girl on the advertisement above looks just like me when I wash my hair LOL. Maybe that's another reason why I don't like them lol.
Sierra's Answer: Never used them, never will!!! Well let me not say never because if I use the products I'm going to feel like the devil. But what really turned me from using the products was a friend of mine tried it and it broke her hair off. Ironically, she had a relaxer. (Aren't these products directed to non-naturals? I don't know) Anywho her hair was breaking off on the sides near her temple, which I think is common unfortunately, but she used Dr. Miracles. Well a few weeks later, she had hair! But she didn't stop the usage of the product and a few weeks later, she didn't have hair again! Her theory was "it worked too good". It helped her hair grow and I guess was too strong and had the opposite effect. I'm not sure if the directions to the products have a time frame but I'm scared to use stuff that if I don't follow directions perfectly my hair will fall out. Especially since I rarely follow directions anyway lol.
My advice: Enter at your own risk.
