The other day I was doing my usual blog browsing and came across a post from www.thegoodhairblog.com! Alexandra recently tried her first bantu knot out, and since I was tired of my usual twist outs (they don't stretch my hair out much... it still hides a lot of my length) I decided to try a bantu knot out.
My hair had been in mini twists all week under my wig. I spritzed each section with a mixture of water and Yes to Cucumbers conditioner (review coming soon). I did about 10 bantu knots and secured them with a bobby pin.
Overall, I liked it. My hair still is extra "shrunken" to me, so idk... I'm tired of my hair actually growing but still looking like it hasnt :-/ I may try to do a braid out on top of this. I've heard that the hair doesn't shrink up as much with braid outs. I'll let y'all know.
What do you think of the bantu knot out?

Very cute!! I've never tried it, one day!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to try a bantu knot.
ReplyDeleteLove it!! Looks great! :)
ReplyDeleteI love it! My mom used to style my hair in bantu knots back in elementary, but she used to blow-dry my hair first. I wish I were more skilled with hairstyling, I want to try this style, but I'm sure I'd mess it up lol
ReplyDeletePatience, grasshopper! From my experience, your hair will sprout most when you stop paying attention to it. I never notice my length until I see pictures of it or when I'm doing a henna treatment (since it weighs the hair down when you apply it). Enjoy this stage because the longer & thicker you hair gets, the more you'll be looking for a shrunken look.
ReplyDeleteBantu knot-outs do create more of a shrunken look on. I think it comes with first day hair no matter what style you try. Maybe try doing one on damp to dry hair to see if you get more of the elongated look that you are after. Try doing the pineapple technique at night. It always helps to preserve my curls while also elongating them.
