Friends of the Opposite Sex When Married

This week's Tweetin Thursdays question was:

"Do you disagree or agree with the following statement? "'Once you're married, you can no longer have friends of the opposite sex."'  "

 Here's what you all said! 

--I DISAGREE..U SHOULD STILL B ABLE 2B FRIENDS WITH SOME1 OF THE OPPOSITE SEX.I HAD A MALE FRIEND WHO WAS LIKE A BROTHER 2 ME..HE CAME TO MY WEDDING AND EVERYTHING.

--Disagree. But who it is and how you interact with them must be something your spouse is cool with.

--I disagree, too. A true friend of the opposite sex will respect your relationship. At the same time, it's not wise for a married person to be in a situation alone w/the opposite sex where someone could get the wrong idea. The mind might be holy, but the flesh is weak.

--When I got married, I cut off all of my male friends because I knew that my husband was insecure. I think you can have friends of the opposite sex as long as everyone knows not to cross lines. Also, I think it's important for your spouse to know and befriend that person.

 --I agree with you (a previous comment) though i am not married my mother is my example. her high school boyfreind gave her a picture of him on a motorcycle she gave it back to him. not b/c my dad was insecure but i think she did it out of respect to my father. and i also agree with veronica, you have to be careful, b/c you just never know what might be waiting for you behind the door

--I've been married for 17 yrs and I have had the same male friend for 25 yrs. He is like a big brother to me and my husband understands this and is supportive of our bond. I think it's all in the way people interact; if the friendship is only a friendship with no romantic ideas from either party..trust from the spouse should not be an issue.

--I disagree. You can have male friends but your husband should be very aware of who they are. No secret friends. If thi dude and your husband can't be cool with each other then it's a no go. And vice versa. As his wife I need to be aware of HIS female friends.

--When a woman and man who are not married to each other are alone, the third party present with them is Satan. I agree the spirit may be strong but, the flesh is weak.Guard against temptation.
