My Review: I used this product for a week straight in order to determine if I liked it. The first night, I applied it to freshly washed hair that was still wet. I used it to set my hair for a twist out. I was instantly intrigued by the smell of the pudding. However, when I took down my twists in the morning, my hair was in a nice defined twist out, but felt dry. In fact, it felt like straw. I WAS BLOWNNNNNNN! Definition with a strawlike feeling! -___-

Determined to get it together, I emailed the folks at Enso Naturals to ask for some help. They responded by telling me that if I had kinkier textured hair, I would need to apply a cream base leave-in before using the pudding. So I retried it the following night, applying the Shea Moisture Restorative Conditioner. My hair came out MUCH BETTER! It felt much softer, while still being defined.
The pudding must be paired with another product in order to achieve the softness along with definition. I have not tried their leave-in, but seeing as most products are formulated to work best with those of that company, I would suggest that you purchase their Sweet Honey Hibiscus Leave-In Conditioner ($9.00).
    • This pudding can also be used for wash n gos. However, when I tried it, it didn't provide any hold or curl definition.

The Short and Sweet: Smells great. Great texture/product consistency. Yields pretty good definition on styles that have to be set (twist outs, braid outs, bantu knot outs, etc.). However, I'm not convinced that it's an absolute necessity in my product arsenal seeing as the product being used alone made my hair feel like straw. I'll give it 3 out of 5 stars!

  1. Great review! I was hesitant to post my review on the deep conditioner (Cacao recovery) because it seemed like everyone else had such great reviews but I wasn’t happy with the results and I wanted to be honest with my readers. Thank you for your honest review as well Jameka! And your hair definitely looks defined. Maybe the company will revisit their products and add a few more moisturizing additives to their formulas.

  2. Girllll, I had the same thoughts! I was hesitant to post it as well. HOWEVER, at the end of the day, different products work for different people. It's good for people to see that. I'm always skeptic when a product works for every single person that reviews it.

We owe it to our readers to be honest! And I truly believe that companies appreciate honesty!
