Pennies-Nickels-Dollars: Hair Splurge!

I have a confession to make…I spent $20 on a hair product!!  See what had happened was (lol)…I’ve been tempted to straighten my hair since the weather has gotten a little cooler.  I considered going to a professional, but out of pure  fear of having a stranger apply heat to my hair and the cheapskate in me not willing to spend $45+ on a style that may not last more than a couple of days, I couldn’t bring myself to do it.  I’ve decided I’m going to give self straightening another try, and after hearing good things from friends and in reading a lot of hair blogs mention Aveda Brilliant Anti-Humectant Pomade, I bought it!

This is the most I’ve EVER spent on one product so I hope it works well and keeps my hair from reverting, although a part of me hopes that it doesn’t live up to the hype so I don’t get hooked on an expensive product! J   Despite making a relatively expensive purchase, I don’t think I made a bad financial decision.  Even if it doesn’t work well with straight hair, I could always use the pomade to do a frizz-free twistout, so I will get my money’s worth either way.  Also, I cut my spending a lot this month by putting myself on a “Dine-in Challenge,”  so even after paying all my bills and devoting money to my savings account, and taking care of my daily expenses, I had  money left in my budget to use as I pleased.   I even scored a ton of good samples from Aveda, and signed up on the email list for a free birthday gift!

What’s the most you’ve ever spent on a hair product, and was it worth it??  Let me know in the comments J

  1. The most I spent was 26 for jane carters nourish and shine which was really a glorified butter. Shea just the same darn thing

  2. Just this weekend I spent *sigh* over 100 on a bunch of E.O's and castor olive jojoba and cocnut oils essential oils cost so darn much to come in teeny tiny bottles... BUT I just finished making my first batch of Shea butter and flax seed gel using those products so *hopefully* in the long run I will save.

  3. @devine I know what you mean about the essential oils, those tiny bottles are pricey but they last a long time

@NATURALLYCHELSEA Glad you said that, now I can mark that nourish & shine off my list of products to try lol
