What do you have a passion for? Is there that one thing that you absolutely LOVE to do, or simply ENJOY doing? As you answer that question, I want you to think about the type of FEELING it brings to you. Is it possible to turn your passion into a side job, or a possible career?
Seriously, I though of those questions and then some when my husband encouraged me to pursue my love for baking. This all happened after I had our second child and decided to stay home with him. Yep I quit my full time job and let me tell you, nursing school was on the horizon. I even completed getting my CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification, got a job at a Nursing Home, and started working part time. You know what? It wasn't for me. Glad I found out early...and I was still missing that something that I needed to fill when I wake up and go to work every day. I was tired of not loving my job.
After a few discussions with my hubby, I decided that I wanted to become a Pastry Chef. #team baking : ) I looked into all the program options we had here in Milwaukee (not many), and I enrolled in school full time in the Baking/Pastry Arts Program.
Now it was time to find a part time job. So one day I came across this cupcake bakery on Face Book (Classy Girl Cupcakes). They were looking for a cupcake girl/guy to stroll around the park's festival carrying a cupcake cooler. Basically the job was to look cute, walk, and sell cupcakes one day a week...how hard could that be right? I applied thinking hey it's an opportunity and I was always told to never pass up on an opportunity if you can do it - no matter how small. Well now, I'm selling (inside), baking (trainee) and setup up wedding displays on the weekends. I love it! And this is just the beginning. I do have to thank God and my family support for this blessing.
I do understand that's it not that easy for everyone to just up and pursue your passion, but what about just incorporating it more into your life. Do it for you, and share with others if possible. Life is too short, and why not do the things that make you happy.
