So what's your favorite snack to make for the fall season or for Halloween? Caramel Apples are a big hit in my house. We normally go to this little sweet shop in Cedarburg, WI to buy some of the yummiest caramel apples this side of the Midwest. This time around, I thought it would be a good idea to try and make them with my 8 year old son. He loves to help me in the kitchen. I found this recipe on iVillage.com. It's pretty simple and they turned out amazing.
What you'll need:
6 Apples (stem removed), Golden Delicious or another firm, slight tart apple
1 14-ounce bag of caramel candies
2 Tablespoons Water
1 Cup pecans (chopped) :optional
Vegetable oil spray
6 Skewers
Parchment paper
Baking sheet
Medium saucepan
Directions (Summary):

Line baking sheet with parchment paper and spray with oil, combine water and carmels in bowl over saucepan of boiling water, cook over medium heat and stir until melted, remove from heat and coat apples one at a time, set apples on baking sheet, let cool and harden for at least 15 minutes before serving.
