I loooveee the holiday times! Jesus' birthday, time with the family, travelling, relaxing... but also for the food! If you're anything like my family, YOU.THROW.DOWN. and it's notagame.com when it comes to meals during the holiday time.
Over the last 2 days, I've had countless servings of mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, chicken, ham, green beans, collard greens, rolls, potato salad, and the list goes on. Let me just say.... all of the good eatings show. The weight gain is ridiculous. I feel like a stuffed turkey. In addition to those meals, I've had stromboli sandwiches, chicken tenders and fries, cakes and pies.
Up until yesterday, we actually had had no veggies in sight lololol. My grandfather said, "ALL WE'VE EATEN IS CAKE AND MEAT! CAKE AND MEAT! IF WE DON'T GET SOME VEGETABLES HERE SOON, I'M GOING OUTSIDE TO EAT THE GRASS!" LOL! I was tooooo weak!
*I digress* Now, the holidays can't be the only blame for my sudden weight gain. As I got into the swing of things at work, my healthy living went out the window. You all may remember that I lost a good 10 pounds this last year by working out and changing some of my lifestyle/eating habits, and then stress and school kicked in and I gained it right back. The holiday season just topped off my frustration.
So after doing some research, I'm challenging myself to make January meatless. Not necessarily because I disagree with eating animals, but because I think it's:1) a great way to incorporate healthy living
2) a good way to slim down
3) a wonderful way to introduce myself into eating a variety of foods
4) a good way to practice self-discipline
I tried to go meatless back in 10th grade and succombed to my cravings about 2 weeks into it when I was overcome with dreams of chicken lol. However, I was unprepared and unaware of what vegetarian options there are out there. So I'm taking this next week to research vegetarian foods and resources to help me make it through the month.
Anyone with me?!?
I am actually going beef-less this new year no red meat for me (5 years ago give or take I gave away pork) like you I am ready to try new things but I don't want to give up my turkey just yet. But I'm sure that this will help with this gut I have accumulated this year too!
ReplyDeleteExactly! I've always been hesitant to eat meat since a traumatic trip to the farm in 3rd grade lol. I don't eat much beef besides the occasional cheeseburger. I'm not much of a pork eater either. I've switched to turkey sausage and turkey bacon lately because I enjoy the taste.
ReplyDeleteLet me know how it goes for you!
