Product Review: Shea Moisture Restorative Conditioner!

In this post I wrote a few weeks ago, I explained how why I bought this conditioner. I pretty much wanted a conditioner with more natural ingredients, as opposed to all of the things in Herbal Essences that I couldn't even pronounce. I've tried this product out 3 times so I'm ready to review it!! :)

Ingredients: de-ionized water, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea butter)*, Argan oil, coconut oil*, Behentrimonium chloride, essential oil blend, vegetable glycerin, emulsifying wax, sea kelp extract, Panthenol (vitamin B-5), avocado oil, Lonicera Caprifolium (honeysuckle) flower and Lonicera Japonica (Japanese honeysuckle) flower extract, Tocopherol (vitamin E) and Daucus Carota Sativa (carrot) seed oil. *Denotes certified organic ingredients.

Product Description:
  • Moisturizes and repairs dry, lifeless, over-processed and damaged hair
  • After shampooing, work conditioner through hair from roots to ends
  • Leave on hair for up to 1 minute, then rinse thoroughly or leave on hair for up to 15 minutes for deeper conditioning
  • As a leave-in conditioner, work a dime-sized amount through damp hair, then style as desired
  • Used For: Conditioning
  • Hair Type: All Hair Types

My Thoughts For Using As A Conditioner (After Shampoo)
Ehh- I'm not so sure that I liked it as far as a conditioner, after shampoo. I washed my hair with Shea Moisture Brillant Curl Shampoo and followed my regular washing technique. The consistency just didn't feel like I wanted it to in order to help me detangle my hair... I mean, my hair felt fine afterwards, but I don't know. There wasn't enough slip for me maybe? I followed up with my Shea Moisture Deep Moisture Masque and all was well.
Rating: 3/5

My Thoughts For Using For Co-Washing
I tried it again for co-washing. I'm not sure what it was, BUT my hair felt GREAT afterwards! I co-washed and repeated it about 3 times while detangling it. I then applied coconut oil on top of it and washed it out with cool water. My hair was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO soft to the touch!

This conditioner also doubles as rinse-out conditioner and a leave-in conditioner, though I haven't tried it as a leave-in yet. This makes it very convenient. However, my thoughts are that because it formulates as both, it's not as a thick as I would want it to be for a conditioner. At the same time, if leaving in your conditioner all the time is your thing, then this is a good buy because it's safely formulated to be used as both types of conditioner.

All in all, I'm going to give it a rating of 4 out of 5.

I'm going to work with it to see if I want to keep it in my regimen or not. As for now, it stays! OH and did I mention that this comes in a pump format which makes it easy to dispense! lol

Have you tried it? What are your thoughts?

  1. I saw this at Target last night and contemplated getting it. I passed since I wasn't sure if I'd like it. (I did get KinkyCurly Curl Pudding and I have gotten so many compliments I'm going to start blushing). I might pick this up as a co-wash.

  3. Thank you so much for doing an honest review of this. I’m always skeptical of reviews when the product was given to the reviewer. I’ve been wondering about these products, but I just can’t bring myself to spend the money on them. Looks like I’ll pass on this one.
