Product Review: Bigen Permanent Hair Color

A few weeks ago I dyed my hair to better blend it with my wig. The color is called "ORIENTAL BLACK". Ehhhh, I always seem to dye my hair black, but I don't like my hair black lol. Anywho, I had several people ask me about coloring their hair when it's natural so I figured I'd share how I felt after using this product.

Price: $3.75-$6.00, depending on the store. It can be found just about anywhere- Walmart, CVS, Rite Aid, etc.

Application: 5/5

It was suppperrrr easy to apply! It comes in a tiny little bottle(see the picture above! sorry it's fuzzy!), along with a little measuring cup. The cup is marked according to how much you want to apply. It's a powder hair color so you pour the powder in a cup, bowl, or whatever you're using, add the water and then stir. It's water-activated so you don't have any mess. It's also odorless! It didn't really stain my hands, even though I wore gloves, which is always good. So overall, 5/5.

This picture is the measuring cup and how the mixture looks. It looks gross but I've seen grosser concoctions!

Results: This hair color was so easy and quick to use. Mixing, applying, and washing it out took about 40 minutes maybe? I can't remember because it has been a few weeks, but I know that it has been awhile. I'm not sure of the ingredients BUT I do know that it is ammonia-free and peroxide-free which I believe many hair colors use.

Many people cite their hair color as damaging but I don't feel that my hair was damaged at all. My hair still feels just as soft and has retained its curl pattern. It doesn't feel dry or brittle either. My hair does seem to itch more than usual, but I'm not sure if that's because of the hair color or something else.

The ONLY bad thing is that for some reason, the dye turns your nails black when you touch your hair. LOL it made me look like my nails were dirty! *growls in anger* Granted, I need to keep my hands out of my hair BUT STILL lol. I had to paint my nails dark colors to cover it up. It did this for the first 3 weeks, but now I don't have this problem.

  1. Okay, this is one thing I won't do again... dye my hair black! Back in college, my then-stylist permanently dyed my hair black and I had to wait two and a half years for it to fully grow out. I didn't want to just cut all my hair off and stripping the color off is EXTREMELY DAMAGING, so I reluctantly played the waiting game.

I now only go very dark brown when I get sick of my honey blond highlights (like right now, lol).
