Is Social Media Just An Excuse?

Remember this? This week's Tweetin Thursdays question was:

"Do you think social media is ruining relationships and marriages? Or is it just an excuse?"

 Here's what you all said!

--Just an excuse. People know how to act in real life and should know how to act on the internet.

--I stamp and approve Andrea's cmmnt... It is a bold excuse. Y? bc they knew good andwell they had those or a problem bf signing on to any darn social site. Prob did it looking for attention and of course that attention got out of hand now blaming the site is the easiest thing to do of course. Like she said everyone is grown sadly enough every1 doesnt act it...

--Definitely an excuse.... before internet and social media people found other ways to ruin their relationships. Social media just makes it a lot easier...

--It's just an excuse.

--Definitely an excuse. The entity of "social media / networking" is not forcing anyone to cheat on their significant other. It just makes the (already desired) cheating more accessible.

--EXCUSE!!!

What do you think? Continue to weigh in!

  1. As far as cheating goes it is an excuse. However, I do think the internet gives people a sense of freedom. I think this freedom to put anything on the internet via social networking makes being genuinely social more difficult. People use facebook/ twitter as a way to vent. That can be problematic and create tension in relationship if every little thing in a relationship is pot out for the world to see. Also I think facebook/ twitter have become addictions. People multitask ( watch tv, tweet and talk to their partner) which I also think can start a divide. This divide can begin because that is the only quality time that the couple is spending.
