Breakdown of Shea Moisture Masques!

I now have all 3 of the masques that Shea Moisture makes, in addition to the Curl Enhancing Smoothie (which isn't a mask). They are all packaged in the same container and despite the different colors, it's easy to get them confused, so I figured I'd break it down for me since I'm the crazy person who bought them all for no reason for yall lol

Product Description: Our all-natural intense treatment masque deeply penetrates to moisturize and repair over-processed, dry, brittle or damaged hair. Sea kelp trace minerals detoxify hair follicles of impurities and residue. Argan oil restores shine and rebuilds hair elasticity. Shea butter deeply moisturizes and repairs damage to hair and scalp.

Jameka's suggestion: This product is soooo thick. My hair eats it up. I use it as a DC, but I also end up using it as a leave-in/curl definer. If your hair needs the DEEEEP moisture, I'd suggest leaving it in. It won't cause buildup and will have your hair feeling heavenly as the days go on!

Product Description:
This all natural intense treatment masque with biotin & bamboo extract is for thin, fine hair. It penetrates to moisturize and repair over-processed, dry, brittle or damaged hair. It thickens, volumizes & softens.

Jameka's suggestion: With this product being for thin, fine hair, I would suggest it just as a quick deep treatment after a rinse-out conditioner. It smells great and gives the hair the added 'oomph' after your regular conditioner. It leaves your hair feeling squeaky clean and refreshed.

Product Description: Detoxify, condition and soothe hair and scalp with gentle Kaolin clay, herbal extracts, botanical enzymes and essential vitamins. Our intense treatment relieves dry, itchy scalp, removes product buildup and preserves hair by sealing in natural moisture. Treats dandruff, eczema & psoriasis.

Jameka's suggestion: I've only used this product once, however, I'd suggest it as a pre-poo. It's designed to remove product build up and alleviate dry scalp, and I feel this product is needed more before shampooing. It makes for a more thorough cleansing experience because of how it prepares your hair before shampooing/conditioning.

Product Description: Nutrient rich vegetable butters condition hair, restoring moisture, body and shine. Enhances curls, minimizes frizz and provides curl control. For thick, curly hair. Sulfate-free and color-safe.

Jameka's suggestion: Y'all do know that this isn't a conditioner hair masque, don't you? I've seen a few people use it as such, but it's a curl moisturizer that works best for defining curls and curl sets. It provides some hold and shine and I think it's thickness is what helps it to eliminate frizz. I use it in conjunction with the Hold & Shine Mist, which helps to prevent it from building up on my hair due to the product thickness.

Hope this helps! If you have any questions about the entire Shea Moisture product line, post them here! I have just about all of their products so I'd be happy to help!

  1. I use the anti breakage as a leave in along with my leave in conditioner. I use about a nickel amount and rub in hair.

  2. Thanks for the tip! I can totally see how that one would be a good leave-in and may also start using it as such!!

  3. I have used the whole yellow line and I like it. My issue is that my hair is still coming out ( not due to the shea moisture) it had been for a while before hand which is why I wanted to use all natural/organic hair products. Are there any shea moisture products that will help with hair loss?
