Are you familiar with the Mahogany greeting cards from the popular Hallmark brand? Whenever I need a card to take my thoughts and orchestrate them into a beautiful, thought-provoking card, Mahogany does the job! *pauses* I sound like an advertisement lol.
But really... I love Mahogany cards and run straight to them when I need a card. I found the PERFECT card for my mom yesterday, however, right when I got to the end of it, it said "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" *shrugs shoulders* It was too good of a card to pass up lol. My mom laughed, but I'm telling you, she really meant to cry instead lol. The card was perfect! *pats self on back*
I'm shocked at how many people don't know about the Mahogany line of cards, so I figured I'd share some info about it with you all.
- Started in 1987
- Geared towards African American consumers
- Celebrate African American culture from the colors used, pictures used, words and dialect, etc.
- "Sentiments range from religious to humorous and poetic to casual"
- "Mahogany Cards with Sound play favorite songs by the original artists, such as "Rapper's Delight" by Sugar Hill Gang, "Shining Star" by Earth Wind and Fire, "I'm Every Woman" by Chaka Khan, and "Brick House" by the Commodores."
- "Through the years, Mahogany has collaborated with well-known African-American figures. The brand also partnered with the U.S. Postal Service in 1999 to celebrate the accomplishments of African Americans in history through the Legacy of Greatness cards that coordinated with the collectible postage stamps of the same name."
Mahogany cards are found in the card aisle of most retailers. They have a distinct logo that is recognizable from afar. The cards cost the same as most cards, so they're definitely worth getting. They even have added a $0.99 section of the line. SCORE! LOL
I lOOOVE the Mahogany cards.
