This
week's Tweetin Thursdays question was:
"Many people say that #naturalhair is too mainstream now. Do you agree or disagree? Why?"
--What an interesting question...
--If it's mainstream that's a good thing. I was afraid to go natural when I was younger because my mom use to say I wouldn't be able to find a job. Lol
--Disagree! Those lace fronts/caps are too common and mainstream now. Ppl are making themselves go bald and won't realize for quite some years. I think natural hair is adding a unique flair to womens looks and it's beautifu
--Oh and if your natural to be different. How does that work?? We were all born with this hair. ;)
--Debateable.. If it is mainstream (whatever that is), I am happy about it! I love seeing a twistout or a wash and go afro in the commercials. Its about time. Personally I think it is more accepted.. not so much mainstream.
-- I don't think it's mainstream..I think women are realizing they have another option. We aren't bound by the perm or the wrap..we have the ability to switch things up. Women are also realizing they are fine with what God gave them..and that will always be a beautiful thing..the more the merrier!
-- Hmmm? If so, is that a problem? :)
-- That would only be so if you did it to be different or unique, like that was your sole purpose. i went natural becuase i didt want the poor mans version of white hair anymore. i did it to completely embrace myself, nappy hair, bad eyesight, brown eyes, you name it its all mine and i APPLAUD any female that goes natural for the reason of completely embracing who she is. not so much for those who are trying to be "cool". i hate cool lol
--If mainstream is noticing....that is a good thing...cause there is more where that came from...we all going back to the root...
-- Natural hair is about self discovery..and self discovery will NEVER be a bad thing!
-- Yes it is mainstream! I love seeing ALL of the African-American women and girls in commercials with natural hair styles. One day I was watching t.v. they were coming on back to back! @Chicos, @Disney, @TJ Maxx
-- It shouldnt be underground
-- I think it's more popular now than before, but not yet mainstream. Even if it were, I think it would be a good thing.
-- how can it B 2mainstream if we want ppl 2C the beauty we C
-- how can the way someone chooses to wear their hair be 'too mainstream'?? it's just hair.
-- I agree because I see it everywhere now.. I did it because I never liked relaxers.. I think many people that do it for the wrong reasons will go back to relaxers..
-- prolly some1 black said that smh. Its wat we're born with so its not mainstream, it should be regular
I'm with you! I totally disagree. I think those who change the way they naturally came into this world are the ones trying to be different.
ReplyDeleteDon't get me wrong, you could and should do whatever you like to look the best that YOU think you should look. If that means relaxing, go on with your bad self. I relaxed for years and now I'm natural (almost 6 years) and it's amazing how much healthier my natural hair is!
