Actually, this is how I've been since college.
This last week, I had a moment where I realized that I really needed to get refocused. Last week, I had two notably bad days at school, and by bad, I mean, I was tired, frustrated, easily agitated, and flustered. I had allowed things to slowly spiral out of my control and that created a mess of a week for me, of highs and lows.
I was fortunate enough to be able to take a half-day of personal leave and head to the mountains for my church's Singles Retreat, which allowed me 4 hours of time in the car alone... just me, God, and my music. It got me thinking about what I have gotten away from. When I first took the job at my school, I knew that God had purposed it in my heart to seek to be a blessing to my students, their parents, and my colleagues, and be a light unto them and a witness, show them how good God has been in my life and in turn help them to develop or better relationships with Christ.
However, I SO quickly lost sight of that once school started and my focus became surviving each day, as opposed to what I could do. I no longer was thinking about having a positive attitude, or encouraging others, or not complaining.... and I started to fall into a slump and knowing that it would impact my testimony at my school, I decided to get myself together. Coincidentally enough, one of the focuses of the Singles Retreat was being purposeful in all that you do and living by purpose.
Granted, it has only been a week, BUT, tomorrow's Wednesday and I'm feeling good, feeling great. I'm somewhat exhausted, but I feel like I'm making an impact. I'm making a cognizant effort to complain less about my struggles and things that are upsetting me, and doing my best to come up with resources to help lessen the load of my teammates. I've also been more conscious of forming positive relationships with my students and being in more consistent contact with their parents and guardians.
So far, so good! I'll keep you updated!!!
What have you gotten away from in your life? Do you need to get refocused? Live WITH A PURPOSE!
