Not quite sure if the title goes with this, but OH WELL! Joy DOES come in the morning lol!!!
For the past 9 weeks of school (my first year as a teacher), my class size has been 26 students; 26 freshly-turned-8 active students lol. Let me give you some more insight.... 16 boys and 10 girls. So think about all the stereotypes of the activeness of boys. Let me tell you, they aren't stereotypes. I have learned A LOT about the needs of students, particularly boys, as it pertains to movement and manipulatives and it's actually helped me in some of teaching strategies.
I had my ups and my downs this quarter, but I don't think I really ever realized that I had a large amount of students in my class. I had never known a smaller class size, since it's my first year, so it didn't bother me. The struggles that I faced were ones that I just chopped up to it being my first year.
So again, I struggled. I don't like to admit that, but for the sake of this point, I'll share lol. JUST when I was getting overwhelmed, "JOY" came in the form of a new 3rd grade teacher! This allowed my class size to be reduced from 26 to 21. Granted, everyone keeps saying 21 is still a lot, BUT, when you have had 26, 21 seems like 8 lol. I love my students and I was/have been in tears that I had to lose some, but God doesn't give us more than we can bare.
Just when I needed it, He sent relief :) I'm so grateful to serve such a great and awesome God.

This really touched me! God does not give us more than we can bear. He reduced the number of your students at his appointed time. And He has called you to be ateacher, He will enable you to do the job.
ReplyDeleteThis really inspires me as I desire to be an elematary school teacher myself.
