Brendita's Body Works Smoove Moves Organic Castile Soap Shower Gel
Price: $7.00 for 8 oz
Product Description :
Castile soap is an extremely gentle cleanser made with organic olive and coconut oils.
It cleans without stripping or drying and rinses away with leaving any residue. Unscented castile soap has a consistency that is slightly thicker than water. However, certain essential and fragrance oils will cause it to thicken slightly.
Please keep in mind, castile soap has a pH value of 9, so I don't recommend using it as a hair cleanser. A pH value over 5 will cause swelling of the cuticles on the hair, which will lead to tangles and possible breakage. Use and enjoy castile soap to cleanse your body. Choose one of my Phat Head Cleansers for your hair.

My Review:
I was sent this product in my care package from Brendita's Body Works several months ago. At the time, I was reviewing Shea Moisture's African Black Soap Shower Gel so I waited to use this product. Switching from the Shea Moisture, which has a thick consistency, to this shower gel was an adjustment. This product has a very thin consistency, which may cause you to use more of it then you desire. It's thin and watery, which is not what I prefer when I use shower gels.
Nonetheless, I continued to use it. What I do like is that even though the consistency is thin, the product still has a so-so lather and leaves your skin feeling very clean and not stripped. Also, y'all know I'm a sucker for smell-good products and this one certainly smells good! It comes in a multitude of scents, however, mine was Lime. It's delicious smelling! I plan to use it all up, but whether or not I purchase it after it's all gone is still in the air.

The Short and Sweet:
3 out of 5
This product does just what it says- cleans without leaving the body stripped of moisture. I enjoy the clean feeling that's left from the product and I enjoy the smell. However, the consistency makes it a product that I have a difficulty using because I do prefer shower gels that are thick with a good lather.

Thank you for taking the time to review this, Jameka. Pure castile soap is very thin and watery by nature, so if you're used to thick gel shower products, it can take some time getting used to the different consistency.
ReplyDeleteThe good news is, you don't need to use more of it to get the lather you desire: I use it with one of my sisal fiber sponges and the end result is handfuls of glorious bubbles! You can get the same results with a regular washcloth: Wet the cloth thoroughly, apply a few drops and squeeze, to distribute the soap.
You will be pleasantly surprised to see an abundance of bubbles and foam... without any harsh sulphates or chemicals :-)
