I love bridal shows but Bridalplasty? Really...?

So this is a topic that comes up regularly around me and my Sorors. WHERE ARE ALL THESE BRIDAL GAME SHOWS COMING FROM ?!?!?!?! Let me first say that I am a sucker for the happy bridal shows like Say Yes To The Dress and My Fair Wedding with David Tutura. These shows have me convinced that I know what style of dress I want, who to bring with me while shopping for my dress (don't bring biter friends), and how to transform an idea to an experience for the ceremony.

But the shows that bother me are Bridezillas and now Bridalplasty. Just in case you haven't seen the shows let me debrief you real quick. Bridezillas is a show of the worst, most annoying, controlling, crying, demanding, etc etc women in the world trying to put on their wedding. They are shown throwing tanturms, demanding way too much out of the wedding party, and bossing their future husbands around. Now I'm trying to figure out what man or woman for that matter, will watch this show and want to get married??? It's already hard enough to find a dude who doesn't want to still be single so he can still play with his friends, now you're showing him what his life could possibly be like? I know sometimes we watch shows and we look at the people and think "oh well they're this or that so that's not real." NOT! These are normal, regular women of all races and ages who are acting a fool on tv. Somebody needs to tell them they should be thankful for having a man! (ok maybe I'm salty a bit lol)

The newest reality show is Bridalplasty. The goal is for women to compete to win the body of their dreams for their wedding. Yes the body, not the wedding or the dress, but the body. So every challenge a girl wins a syringe(sp?), similar to the bachelor where they win a rose, and she gets a certain surgery. I had to stop watching after they got botox. OH YEAH, I almost forgot. The first episode a doctor came in with a marker to circle all the areas of the women that needed work! They were so tatted up I didn't know what to think. I was like, this can't be real. Maybe at the end of the show the surprise will be they don't get surgery but instead learn to love themselves the way they are AND the way their husbands love them. Of course that didn't happen.

My whole point and beef with shows like Bridezillas and Bridalplasty is simple.... they all have men. Why are you not satisfied? I have more friends that are concerned with meeting a man who actually wants to be in a relationship, and one with just you. So what are we telling the single men who watch stuff like this? Why would a guy want to "wife you up" if he's scared you're going to flip like a bridezilla and change who you are like bridalplasty?

Eh, but that's my rant. What do you think? Are shows like this sending a bad image to men about how women act once they get a ring on their finger?
